The Beginning
Back in January of 2024. Tony & Bex had their first viewing of the old indie lounge restaurant, on the port in San Antonio. After many conversations, and lots of exchanges backwards and forward, on the 5th March 2024, with the t’s crossed and i’s dotted, Tony & Bex were handed the keys to their exciting new project. A quick call to Marketing Manager Jess, and the trio skipped down to Aragma for the first time.
The Team
We are so lucky to have an amazingly talented team with us at Tapas Ibiza. Many that have worked with us for a number of years. With all their combined talents, it was glaringly obvious we were in a strong position to promote from within.
Former Tapas floor manager Sofia was quickly promoted to Aragma Manager. Along with her professionalism and exceptional hospitality skills. Sofia also has a wonderfully creative eye. We immediately assigned her the task of creating a 3D floor plan. Incorporating all our ideas for storage areas, an office, kitchen storage, and a new kitchen. All while ensuring we create a fantastic space to wow our new customers.
Ricardo was as supervisor at Tapas Ibza, and will be supporting Sofia in the role of Assistant Manager. Along with his charm and witty banter, Ricardo is a true hospitality professional.
Tapas Head Chef Alex is the new Executive Chef of Aragma. Challenged with the task of creating a brand new Greek Mediterranean menu from scratch. We do not doubt that Alex’s exceptional culinary skills will shine. Of Greek origin himself. Alex has the innate ability to create authentic flavours within each of his dishes.
Finally, we are excited to welcome Luis to the team. During his travels Luis also worked for a number of years in Greece, making him the perfect candidate for the role. Bringing with him his exceptional knowledge and worldly experience. We are excited to see what treats he delights us with this Summer.
The Refurb
Despite its fantastic location. It was clear that we needed to modernise the restaurant and give it a full refurb. The plans were drawn up, the builders, electricians, plumbers, painters, carpenters etc. were all called in, and the huge refurb began.
The refurb, like all good refurbs, spiralled at one point and another. And caused a few sleepless nights! Tony & Bex along with their unwavering motivation, took it all in their stride. Finding the positives in the not-so-great news they kept being faced with. For example, at least we now know all the electrics are ok, as they ALL had to be replaced!
The Brand
We all got together and had a brainstorm about what we thought the concept and vibe should be.
After a fun afternoon of throwing ideas around we landed on the super catch Greek word Aragma. And unanimously agreed we had stumbled across the new name for the restaurant. Not only is it an interesting sounding word, it has a great meaning too. We think it nicely sums up what we want the vibe at Aragma to be.
Aragma (a -ra-gma)
(adjective) Greek. the act of chilling and enjoying life’s simple pleasures with friends.
The Future
As the maintenance team pack up their tools. Deliveries arrive. Menu tastings done (and thoughly enjoyed). Finally, everything has started to take shape. And here we are, ready to open!
Big thanks to ALL of the team who have made sure this project all comes together as a whole. We can’t wait to see what you all think of our exciting new venture.
Yamas.
Team Aragma.
