Service with a Smile (and a Side of Banter) – Meet Ricardo
Probably the most recognisable face and most well-remembered name across the whole team, Ricardo joined us in 2022 as a waiter at Tapas.
When we started planning the team for Aragma in 2024, we did not doubt that Ricardo would shine in the role of Assistant Manager. He brings his A-game every night, guaranteeing witty banter, and a truly memorable experience.
Name: Ricardo
Nationality: Brazilian
What inspired you to work in hospitality?
I’ve always loved talking to people and interacting with them. When I was in my 20s, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do, but I thought hospitality could be a good fit—and it turns out I was right!
Your name pops up frequently in TripAdvisor and Google reviews. What’s the secret to being a great host?
I think the key is knowing how to read people and making them feel comfortable. It takes time to fine-tune this instinct, but once you have it, it becomes your secret weapon. You have to deliver what guests expect—and more importantly, what they don’t expect.
You’ve had a long and varied career in hospitality. What advice would you give to someone looking to get into the industry?
You need to be passionate about human interaction, about people—and about the product. Passion is contagious, and it makes a huge difference.
When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A rock star! I wanted to play in a REALLY famous band—anyone?. And then reality hit… ha ha!
You’ve travelled a lot. What’s been your favourite destination and why?
Japan, hands down. The food was unreal, the culture was fascinating—curious, weird, and so different from ours. It was an incredible experience.
How long have you had your famous “Freddie Mercury moustache”?
About six or seven years now, but I’ve always had fun with my facial hair.
What’s your favourite thing about Ibiza? The clubs, the beaches, the weather, the restaurants, or the bars?
The nature, for sure. The beaches are incredible, and the water is just stunning. Oh, and the sunsets! But there are also some amazing bars and restaurants. The island has so many sides—it can be whatever you want it to be.
What’s your favourite dish on the Aragma menu?
The deconstructed baklava. It’s been a huge hit with guests, and for good reason. It’s just a fantastic dish.
What makes up the perfect day off?
A nice breakfast with a view, followed by a walk or some kind of movement in nature. Then a great lunch, a beach afternoon with friends. Then in the evening, a concert and some interesting cocktails.
What’s been your favourite restaurant in Ibiza this season (besides Tapas or Aragma)?
I went to a place the other day that was amazing—it’s called Locals Only in Ibiza Town. The complexity of the dishes, while still keeping them simple, was really impressive.
